Nothing empties a pantry faster
Nothing empties a pantry, shorts out a wiring harness, or fouls a feed bin faster than a mouse problem left unchecked. Week 1 at Outpost 3D kicks off with the pest that shows up everywhere — cabin, camp, coop, garage, bugout cache — and doesn't need an invitation. We're covering four printable mousetrap builds this week: the Bottle Mousetrap, the Bucket Mousetrap, the Mason Jar Mousetrap, and the Widemouth Mason Jar Mousetrap. Different mechanisms, different jar and bucket setups, same goal — stop rodents before they cost you food, gear, or peace of mind.
The problem this week addresses
Mice don't wait for a good time to move in. They chew through stored grain and dog food, shred insulation for nesting material, gnaw on wiring in trucks, generators, and cabin walls, and multiply fast enough that one ignored problem becomes a colony inside a season. Store-bought traps solve this for a while, but they're single-use, they break, and when you're stocking a cabin, a homestead outbuilding, and a bugout cache all at once, buying enough of them adds up fast. A printed trap flips that math — once you own the file, you can run off as many traps as you need, using parts and containers you likely already have: bottles, buckets, mason jars.
The four builds
Bottle Mousetrap (Mousetrap, Stand): A no-frills, two-part trap built for speed. Set the stand, seat the bottle, bait it, and gravity handles the rest — no springs, no fiddly triggers, no tuning. It's the trap you print when you need something working within the hour.
Bucket Mousetrap (Bracket, Roller, SetScrew): A classic drowning-style bucket trap — the Bracket mounts to the bucket rim, the Roller spins freely on its axle, and the SetScrew locks it in place. The mouse works out to the baited roller, loses its footing, and drops into the bucket below.
